From Puerto Viejo, take the local bus towards Cahuita. The bus stop for the Puerto Vargas entrance is located on the main road between Cahuita and Puerto Viejo, approximately 15 minutes from Puerto Viejo. The bus will drop you off near the ranger station. The entrance fee is $5.65 USD for foreigners. Buses run frequently, and a one-way fare is approximately 1000 colones.

From Puerto Viejo, a taxi to the Puerto Vargas entrance costs around $15-$20 USD and takes approximately 15 minutes. Ensure the driver knows you want the Puerto Vargas entrance. There is a parking lot at the entrance for taxi drop-offs.

Walking
From Cahuita town, you can walk to the Puerto Vargas entrance, though it's a considerable distance (approximately 5 miles/8 kilometers). Follow the main road south towards Puerto Viejo. The entrance will be on your left. Be prepared for a walk of over an hour in humid conditions. Alternatively, walk the park trail from the Kelly Creek entrance and exit at Puerto Vargas, then take a bus or taxi back to Cahuita.
