Car
If you are driving from San José, take Route 2 (Interamericana) towards Pérez Zeledón. After about 2 hours, take the exit for San Isidro de El General (Route 225). Continue on Route 225 for approximately 45 minutes until you reach the town of San Gerardo de Rivas. From San Gerardo, follow the signs to Parque Nacional Chirripó, where you will find the main entrance to the park. Be aware that there are parking fees which vary, so plan accordingly.

To reach Chirripó National Park using public transport, start at the Terminal de Buses de San José. Take a bus to San Isidro de El General; the journey takes about 3 to 4 hours. Once in San Isidro, transfer to a local bus heading to San Gerardo de Rivas. This last leg of the journey takes around 30 minutes. Upon arrival in San Gerardo, follow the signs to the park entrance.
