Getting There

  • Driving

    From Manuel Antonio, head out on Highway 34. Take the road across from the Delta La Managua gas station that heads inland. Follow the paved road through the town of Naranjito. Stay left at the fork. Take your next left. This is the road for the bee farm. There will be a sign. Go down and then up the hill. The farm will be on the right. The last part of the drive is not paved but fine with a regular sedan (no 4×4 needed). Parking is available at the farm.

  • Public Transport

    From Manuel Antonio, walk to the nearest bus stop on the Quepos-Manuel Antonio road. Catch a bus heading towards Quepos. Inform the bus driver that you are going to Villa Nueva. The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the Villa Nueva stop. From there, walk about 15 minutes down the road. The Manuel Antonio Bee Farm will be on your left, identifiable by its signage and surrounding gardens. Bus fare is approximately $1-2.

With the help of his daughter, who studied tropical bees, Miguel created a thriving apiary that is now home to many hives. Visitors can take a guided tour of the bee farm, where they will learn about the intricate lives of bees, their importance to the ecosystem, and the art of beekeeping. You'll even get to wear a traditional beekeeper outfit ! The tour includes a honey tasting session, where you can sample various types of honey produced on-site.
