Bus
From San Jose, head to the Terminal de Buses de la Caribe located at Calle 12 and Avenida 5. Purchase a ticket to Alajuela. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Once in Alajuela, get off at the main bus terminal. From there, look for a bus to Poás, which will take you closer to Laguna Botos. The Poás bus leaves frequently, and the ride should take about 1 hour.

Once you arrive in Poás, walk towards the Poás Volcano National Park entrance. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions to Laguna Botos. It is a hike of approximately 1.5 kilometers from the park entrance to the lake. The trail is well-marked and takes about 30-45 minutes to reach the lake. Enjoy the breathtaking views along the way!
