Public Bus
From downtown San José, head to the main bus terminal called Terminal de Buses Cortés. Look for the buses heading to Alajuela. The fare is around 500-700 CRC. Once on the bus, inform the driver you want to go to Parque Nacional Volcán Poás. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you reach the Alajuela bus terminal, transfer to a bus heading to Poás. Buses to Poás depart regularly. After about 30 minutes, you will arrive at the entrance of the park.
