Getting There

    If you're driving, head to Tortuguero National Park via Route 32. Start from San José and take Route 32 towards Limón. After about 2 hours, turn off onto Route 247 towards La Pavona. Drive for about 1 hour until you reach the La Pavona dock. Here, you will need to park your car in a designated lot (parking fees may apply, approximately $10/day). From La Pavona, take a boat transfer to Tortuguero, which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arriving at Tortuguero, the Tortuga Lodge is located across from the airstrip, about 1 mile north of the town, easily reachable by foot or by a short taxi boat ride.

    To reach Tortuga Lodge via public transportation, start by taking a bus from San José to Cariari. Buses leave frequently from the Terminal 7-10. Once in Cariari, transfer to a bus heading to La Pavona (buses leave several times a day). This trip takes around 4 to 5 hours. Upon reaching La Pavona, you can find boat services that will take you to Tortuguero. The boat ride lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. After arriving in Tortuguero, you can walk or take a short taxi boat ride to Tortuga Lodge, which is located across from the airstrip, about 1 mile north of the town.
