The Croatian Institute of History is located in Zagreb's Upper Town (Gornji Grad) on Opatička Street. From Trg bana Josipa Jelačića, Zagreb's main square, walk north towards the Upper Town. Ascend Radićeva Street, a pedestrian street filled with shops and cafes. Continue onto Kamenita ulica, passing through the Stone Gate (Kamenita vrata). Turn right onto Opatička ulica. The Croatian Institute of History will be on your left. The walk is approximately 15 minutes.

From Zagreb's main square, Trg bana Josipa Jelačića, take tram lines 11, 12, 13, 17 or 6. Get off at the Trg Josipa Jelačića stop. Walk north towards the Upper Town as described in the Walking directions. Alternatively, take a bus to the Katarinin trg bus stop, which is a 3-minute walk to the Institute. A single 30-minute public transport ticket costs €0.53.
