From Zadar, head to the Zadar ferry port, which is located near the city center. Follow the signs towards the ferry terminal or ask locals for directions. Once at the port, check the ferry schedule for departures to the island of Dugi Otok. Board the ferry that heads to Brbinj, a port on Dugi Otok. The ferry ride takes about 1 hour and offers beautiful views of the Adriatic Sea.

Once you arrive at Brbinj, disembark the ferry and look for the bus stop near the port. There are local buses that connect Brbinj to various destinations on Dugi Otok, including Veli Rat. Board the bus that is heading towards Veli Rat. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Keep an eye on the bus stops, and get off at the Veli Rat stop.
