Getting There

Walking
If you are already in Park Maksimir, you can simply walk towards the main path that leads to the central area of the park. Head towards the large pond known as the 'Maksimir Lake'. Once you reach the lake, look for the path that leads to the east side of the park. This path will take you to the entrance of the zoo located within the park. It’s approximately a 10-15 minute walk, depending on your pace and how often you stop to enjoy the scenery.

Public Transport
If you find yourself at a farther location within Maksimir Park and wish to use public transport to get to the nearby zoo, you can locate the nearest tram stop. The closest tram stop is 'Maksimir'. From there, you can take tram number 11 or 12. Board the tram and ride it for a few stops until you reach the 'Trg bana Josipa Jelačića' stop. Here, you will need to transfer to tram number 6. Take tram number 6 and get off at the 'Maksimir' stop which is very close to the entrance of the zoo. A single tram ticket costs around 10 HRK and you can buy it at the tram station or through the mobile app.
