Broadway San Jose is a premier venue for experiencing Broadway-caliber performances in the heart of Silicon Valley. It is located within the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, a 2,677-seat theater operated by Team San Jose. Since its debut in 2009 with Spamalot, Broadway San Jose has hosted over 70 shows, becoming a cultural hallmark of the city. The San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, originally named the San Jose Community Theatre, opened in 1972. The architect was William Wesley Peters of Taliesin Associated Architects. The opening was delayed for three years when the interior ceiling collapsed and required repairs. For 34 years, the venue was the home of the American Musical Theatre of San Jose, which closed in 2008. Today, Broadway San Jose continues to bring a vibrant mix of performances to the city, offering both season tickets and special added experiences.
