    From the Grand Opera House, head northwest on N Market St for about 0.3 miles. The Delaware History Museum and Mitchell Center for African American Heritage will be on your left at 504 N Market St.

  • Public Transport

    If you are near the Wilmington Riverwalk, head to the nearest bus stop at the intersection of S Market St and W River Rd. Take the DART First State bus route 5 towards the Wilmington Transit Center. Get off at the 4th & Market St stop. From there, walk north on Market St for about 3 minutes. The Delaware History Museum and Mitchell Center for African American Heritage will be on your left at 504 N Market St. A single ride on DART First State bus costs around $2.

  • Parking

    Limited metered parking is available on the streets near the museum. Metered parking is free after 6 p.m. and on weekends. Several parking garages are also located within walking distance, such as the Customs House/Courthouse Square Garage at 700 King St, which charges $11 for the maximum daily rate. Colonial Parking's Lot 43, at the corner of 5th & Orange Streets, offers free customer parking after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
