For those using public transportation, take a bus from Otavalo to Cotacachi. Buses leave frequently and the fare is usually around $1. After arriving in Cotacachi, you will need to catch a bus to Apuela. Ensure to ask the bus driver if the bus goes to Apuela, as not all of them do. The bus fare to Apuela will be approximately $1. Once in Apuela, you can either walk to Casa del árbol, which is about a 20-minute walk, or take a local taxi for around $2. Make sure to have cash on hand for the taxi.
