Park your car at the designated parking area near the trailhead, which is well-marked. Make sure to have cash on hand for any entrance fees to the park, which is typically around $10 per vehicle.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Quito to the town of Machachi. Buses leave from the Quitumbe bus terminal. Once you arrive in Machachi, you can catch a local taxi or a shared taxi (known as a 'taxi colectivo') towards the Cotopaxi National Park entrance. Confirm with the driver that they are familiar with the route to Iliniza Sur. The entire journey from Quito to the park entrance will take approximately 2-3 hours, and expect to pay around $2-3 for the bus and $10-15 for the taxi from Machachi to the park.
