Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, first navigate to the town of Ovejería, which is a common starting point. From Ovejería, follow the signs towards Cotopaxi National Park. You will need to take the E28 road heading south. After approximately 30 minutes of driving, you will reach the entrance of Cotopaxi National Park, where an entrance fee is required (approximately $10 per vehicle). Once inside the park, continue on the main road until you reach the Laguna De Limpiopungo, which is about a 15-minute drive from the park entrance. Look for signs indicating the turn-off to the lake. There is parking available near the lake.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Cotopaxi's main bus terminal (in Latacunga) to the town of Ovejería. Buses to Ovejería are frequent and cost around $2. Once you arrive in Ovejería, you can either hire a taxi or find a local tour operator offering transportation to Cotopaxi National Park. Taxi fares may vary, but expect to pay around $15-$20 for the trip to the park entrance. After entering the park (which has an entrance fee of about $10), you can either walk to Laguna De Limpiopungo (which is about a 1-2 hour hike) or check if any local tours provide transportation directly to the lake.
