Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Latacunga, which is approximately 45 km away from Toachi River Canyon. Take the E35 highway south towards Ambato. After about 20 km, turn left onto the E30 road, heading towards Pujilí. Continue on this road for about 15 km until you reach the junction with the E28 road. Turn left onto E28 and drive for about 10 km until you see signs for Zumbahua. Follow the signs for Zumbahua for approximately 5 km. The canyon's entrance is marked by a small sign at the address 33CV+VH6, Zumbagua. Parking is available nearby.
Public Transportation - Bus
For those using public transportation, you can catch a bus from the Latacunga bus terminal. Look for buses heading to Zumbahua; these typically depart every hour. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours and costs around $1.50. Once you arrive in Zumbahua, you may need to take a taxi or walk approximately 2 km to reach the Toachi River Canyon entrance at 33CV+VH6. Taxis may charge around $5 for the short trip.
Taxi
If you're already in a nearby town like Pujilí or Zumbahua, you can hire a taxi directly to Toachi River Canyon. The fare will vary depending on your starting point, but expect to pay between $5 to $10 for a ride from Zumbahua. Ensure to negotiate the price before starting your journey.
Walking
If you enjoy hiking, and you're already in Zumbahua, you can walk to the canyon. The hike is approximately 2 km and takes about 30 minutes. Follow the main road leading out of town towards the canyon; the path is relatively straightforward, and you'll see the canyon entrance as you get closer.
