    From Kotka Harbor, walk northeast along the waterfront towards Tornatorintie. The walk is approximately 2 km and takes about 25-30 minutes. Enjoy the views of the sea and surrounding parks.

    From the center of Kotka, head southeast on Kymenlaaksonkatu towards Lönnrotinkatu. Continue straight onto Korkeakoskenkatu and then turn left onto Tornatorintie. Since July 2008, the museum has been located in the Maritime Centre Vellamo, a modern architectural landmark on the waterfront. Before that, it was located in Helsinki. The museum's extensive collections feature over 16,000 items, including old ships, boats, navigation equipment, and maritime artifacts. Interactive exhibits provide insights into Finnish maritime history and present day maritime activities. Visitors can explore the icebreaker Tarmo and the lightship Kemi. The museum's exhibits cover various aspects of Finnish maritime history, from merchant shipping to naval operations. The collections also include a picture collection of 37,000 photographs, 150 shelf meters of documents, and 8,000 maps and drawings. The main exhibition is open until March 2, 2025, after which the space will undergo a major renovation. The icebreaker Tarmo and the lightship Kemi are open during the summer season. The Maritime Museum of Finland is a national maritime museum that preserves and interprets the history of Finnish seafaring.
