Getting There

    From the center of Suomussalmi, drive approximately 9 km towards Puolanka on Kyröntie (road 892). Turn left onto Aittokoskentie and continue for about 1.5 km. Look for a small parking lot on the right side of the road with a sign for Varisköngäs. From the parking lot, it's a short 300-meter walk to the waterfall. Parking is free. Note that there is no winter maintenance on Aittokoskentie.

    From Kiannon Kuohut Spa Hotel in Suomussalmi, take the 30 km Varisjärvi hiking trail to reach Varisköngäs. This is a longer hike suitable for experienced hikers. Ensure you have appropriate gear and supplies. There are no costs associated with hiking the trail.
