Getting There

• Public Bus

  From Jyväskylä city center, head to the Jyväskylä bus station located at Vapaudenkatu 32. Purchase a ticket for a bus heading towards Petäjävesi. The bus number you should look for is 21. The journey will take approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Petäjävesi bus stop, exit the bus and walk northeast on Vanhankirkontie for about 1.2 kilometers. The old church will be on your right.

• Train and Bus Combination

  Travel from Jyväskylä railway station to Petäjävesi by taking a train to the nearest station, which is located in Jyvaskyla. After arriving at Jyvaskyla, transfer to the bus terminal nearby. Board a bus that goes to Petäjävesi (look for bus number 21). This option may take longer, around 1.5 hours in total, but offers a scenic view along the route. Upon arrival at the Petäjävesi bus stop, walk northeast on Vanhankirkontie for about 1.2 kilometers to reach the old church.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Jyväskylä. Start your journey from the city center and take the bike path along the main roads towards Petäjävesi. The route is approximately 18 kilometers and will take around 1 hour, depending on your cycling speed. Follow signs for Petäjävesi, and when you arrive in Petäjävesi, head towards Vanhankirkontie. The church is located at Vanhankirkontie 9, which will be clearly marked.

• Walking

  For those adventurous enough to walk, the distance from Jyväskylä to Petäjävesi is approximately 18 kilometers. You can follow the pedestrian paths and the road signs leading towards Petäjävesi. This journey will take around 4-5 hours, so ensure you have sufficient time and are well-prepared with water and snacks. The church is located at Vanhankirkontie 9, so once you reach Petäjävesi, head towards Vanhankirkontie where the church is situated.
