Getting There

  • Public Transport

    To reach the University of Oulu Botanical Gardens via public transport, take bus number 3, 8, 19, 1, 2, 2N, 5, 5N, 23, 27, 28, 48 or 58 to the 'Yliopiston Puutarha P' bus stop. From the Oulu city center, buses depart frequently from the main bus station (Oulun Linja-autoasema). A single ticket costs €2.60 when paying with a contactless bank card or the OSL app. Tickets purchased with cash from the bus driver cost €5. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes, followed by a short walk to the gardens.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Oulu Market Square (Kauppatori), you can walk to the University of Oulu Botanical Gardens. Head north on Torikatu, then turn left on Kirkkokatu. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Kumpulantie. Go right onto Kumpulantie and follow it until you reach the intersection with Kaitoväylä. The gardens will be on your left after a short walk. The walk is approximately 7 kilometers and takes over an hour.

  • Car

    If driving, head towards the University of Oulu in the Linnanmaa district. From the E75 highway (Oulu-Kemi road), follow signs for 'University of Oulu'. Take the exit towards Oulu University. Once on Kaitoväylä, the Botanical Gardens will be on your right at Kaitoväylä 5. Visitor parking is subject to a charge between August 1st and May 31st on weekdays from 8:00 to 16:00. The cost is €1.20/hour + operator's fee, with a maximum of €6/day + operator's fee. Parking fees can be paid through eParking, EasyPark, and Parkman apps.
