Discover more about The Village Des Automates

Nestled in the charming landscape of Saint-Cannat, 12 km from Aix-en-Provence, The Village Des Automates extends across 8 hectares of woodland filled with oak and pine trees. Founded in 1986 by Bernard Brémond, the park features over 50 attractions, animations and activities, including automated storytelling displays that combine technology with traditional narratives. Throughout the grounds, different sections represent various world regions and beloved stories, including Mexico House, Chinese Pagoda, Palace of 1001 Nights, Pinocchio's Whale, and Santa's Castle. Children can discover mechanical storytelling through animated figures that move and sing. The larger automata are set in the gardens and include an open-air installation based on Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels. Most of the machines are smaller and housed in brightly-coloured cabins behind glass panels; you have to press a button to get the figures moving and trigger a little scene that comes accompanied by songs and music. The park also offers numerous picnic and play areas, toboggans, pedal cars and "safari jeeps" for kids, a monorail, a little train (for which you have to pay extra) and a small petting zoo with farm animals. The Village is well-shaded with plenty of trees, a real plus point in summer, and there's space to move around with a pram or pushchair / stroller.
