The castle's strategic location next to the village of Tournemire and its imposing structure reflect its original purpose as a mountain fortress.The castle's architecture is characterized by its square keep flanked by four slender towers, a design reminiscent of the Château de Vincennes. Built from basaltic rock, Anjony Castle has withstood the test of time, remaining unattacked and undemolished, a remarkable example of 15th-century military architecture. Inside, visitors can explore richly decorated rooms adorned with 16th-century frescoes inspired by the Italian Renaissance, depicting historical and religious scenes. The Salle des Preux showcases frescoes inspired by chivalric literature, featuring nine knights on horseback, including Charlemagne and King Arthur.
