The Stash Avoriaz, a jewel within the Portes du Soleil ski area, stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of freestyle snowboarding and environmental consciousness. This unique snowpark, inaugurated in 2007, is not just a place to shred; it's an immersive experience that connects riders with nature while promoting sustainable practices. Nestled in the heart of the Lindarets forest, The Stash distinguishes itself through its construction and philosophy. Unlike conventional snowparks that rely on metal and plastic, The Stash utilizes locally sourced wood to create its diverse array of features. This eco-friendly approach minimizes the park's environmental impact and creates a visually stunning landscape that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding forest. The concept for The Stash was born in 2004 from the shapers' vision to create a space that mixes "freeride in the forest" and "freestyle". During the summer, they began developing the forest, using wood found on site to create the modules. Originally, the park was called the Biotop. The Stash offers something for everyone, from intermediate riders to seasoned experts. The park features a variety of slopes with varying levels of difficulty, ensuring that riders of all abilities can find a challenge that suits their skill level. For those who enjoy boardercross, the 'Snake run' provides an exhilarating experience with its tight berms and winding course. At the heart of The Stash lies a central cabin, a welcoming haven where riders can take a break and soak in the atmosphere. More than just a resting spot, the cabin subtly conveys messages about environmental responsibility, encouraging visitors to adopt more mindful and eco-friendly behaviors. It's also possible to engrave your own message in the wood. The Stash is more than just a snowpark; it's a celebration of nature, creativity, and sustainable practices. It's a place where riders can push their limits, connect with the environment, and learn about the importance of protecting our planet. The snowpark is made of natural elements such as a wall for vertical sliding, log and tree trunk obstacles, wooden tables for sliding on, jumps from paths and rocks, trees bent like rainbows, snow shock absorbers, wooden slides, ramps and natural obstacles. Adding to the allure of The Stash is its smaller counterpart, the Lil' Stash. This enchanted forest, located in the Proclou area, is designed for younger adventurers and those who have retained their childlike spirit. The Lil' Stash features treehouses, walkways among the trees, a slide, a swing, and a picnic area, all constructed from eco-friendly materials. It's a magical place where children can explore, play, and connect with nature. The Stash and Lil' Stash are not just recreational areas; they are educational spaces that promote environmental awareness and responsible behavior. Information panels throughout the parks highlight the importance of protecting the environment and encourage visitors to adopt sustainable practices. The Stash is located in the Lindarets sector of the Avoriaz ski area and can be reached via the 6-seater Prolays chairlift. The facility operates daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, providing ample opportunity to explore the area and partake in various activities. Avoriaz itself is a unique and charming resort. Perched at 1,800 meters, it is car-free, creating a serene and pedestrian-friendly environment. The resort's wooden buildings blend harmoniously with the natural landscape, adding to its overall appeal. Avoriaz offers a wide range of activities and amenities, including ski-in/ski-out accommodations, restaurants, bars, and shops. The resort is easily accessible from Geneva Airport, with transfer times of under two hours. The Prodains Express cable car provides efficient access to the resort from the Morzine valley.
