Discover more about Domaine de la Palissade

Domaine de la Palissade offers a unique opportunity to experience the raw beauty and ecological significance of the Rhône River delta. This is the last area to bear witness to the natural evolution of the delta. Formerly a private hunting domain, it has since been transformed into a center for environmental protection, public education, and sustainable tourism. The Palissade's history is intertwined with the Camargue's transformation. Formed by the combined forces of the Rhône River and the Mediterranean Sea, the area's landscape features a mosaic of ecosystems, including marshes, lagoons, reedbeds, and riparian forests. This rich tapestry of habitats supports a remarkable array of plant and animal life, making it a crucial site for conservation. Visitors can explore three marked trails (1.5 km, 3 km and 7/8 km) with observatories, allowing them to discover the typical environments of the lower Camargue and the fauna that inhabit it. The site is managed by the Camargue Regional Natural Park since 2014, ensuring the preservation of its natural heritage.
