The most convenient way to reach the Esplanade is by taking the F2 funicular from Vieux Lyon–Cathédrale Saint-Jean station. The funicular runs frequently, and the ride takes only a few minutes. For those who prefer a more active approach, it's possible to walk to the Esplanade from Vieux Lyon. Follow the Montée des Chazeaux, then Montée Saint-Barthélémy, and enter the Rosary Garden on your right, climbing up to the Basilica.
