The most convenient way to reach the Esplanade is by taking the F2 funicular from Vieux Lyon–Cathédrale Saint-Jean station. The funicular runs frequently, and the ride takes only a few minutes. Alternatively, a standard TCL ticket (€2) can be used, or a book of 10 tickets (€19.50) offers better value if traveling in a group. The funicular station is a short walk from the esplanade.

For those who prefer a more active approach, it's possible to walk to the Esplanade from Vieux Lyon. Follow the Montée des Chazeaux, then Montée Saint-Barthélémy, and enter the Rosary Garden on your right, climbing up to the Basilica.
