Begin your journey by taking the Metro Line D from any central station in Lyon. If you're near Place Bellecour, head to the Bellecour Metro Station. Board the Metro Line D in the direction of Gare de Vaise. After three stops, get off at the Vieux Lyon station. From there, exit the station and head towards the Rue du Bât d'Argent.

Once you are on Rue du Bât d'Argent, continue walking uphill. You will reach the Saône river; at the riverbank, take the stairs leading up to the Rue de la Bombardière. Follow this street until you see the sign for the Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière. The walk involves a steep incline, so wear comfortable shoes.

Alternatively, after getting off at Vieux Lyon station, you can take the funicular. Look for the funicular station, which is nearby. Board the funicular to Fourvière. It will take you directly up the hill to the Basilica. The views during the ride are stunning!

Once you exit the funicular, you will be very close to the Basilica. Simply follow the signs that lead to the Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière. It is just a short walk from the funicular exit.

You can also opt for the bus. Find a bus stop near you that serves line 19. Board the bus towards Fourvière. After a short ride, disembark at the 'Fourvière' stop. From there, follow the signs directing you to the Basilica, which is a short walk away.
