    Discover more about Arahoho Blowhole

Arahoho Blowhole, also known as Trou de Souffleur de Arahoho, is a captivating natural attraction located on the rugged coastline of Hitiaa O Te Ra in Tahiti. This geological formation showcases the raw power of the ocean as waves crash against the volcanic rocks. The force of the water pushes through a narrow opening, creating spectacular sprays that can shoot several meters into the air. The blowhole is formed by an underwater cave connected to a chimney-like lava tube. As waves rush into the cave, the water is compressed and forced upwards through the tube, resulting in a noisy blast and a geyser-like eruption. The intensity of the spray varies depending on the tide and the strength of the waves, with high tide and rough sea conditions producing the most dramatic displays. Visitors can observe the blowhole from a viewing platform, and vantage points along the coast offer different perspectives of the spectacle. The surrounding area features lush tropical vegetation and scenic ocean views, adding to the allure of this natural wonder. A small black sand beach nearby provides a tranquil spot for a picnic. Historically, the site was known as Anahoho, meaning 'the cave that howls'. According to local lore, the warriors of Tiarei would throw the bodies of their enemies into the cave. Today, the Arahoho Blowhole is a must-see attraction, offering visitors an exhilarating experience and a chance to witness the beauty and power of nature.
