Getting There

Car

From Tbilisi, drive approximately 3.5 to 4 hours northwest to the village of Juta. Roads are partially unpaved, so a vehicle with good clearance is advised. From Juta, follow the signs leading to Chaukhi Pass. The road becomes narrower and may require a 4x4 vehicle. Parking is available near the pass. A taxi from Stepantsminda to Juta costs around 50 GEL one way.
Public Transport

Take a marshrutka (minibus) from Tbilisi's Didube bus station to Stepantsminda. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and costs around 10-15 GEL. From Stepantsminda, there is no public transport to Juta. The Mountain Freaks agency organizes daily departures at 9:15 and 11:15, returning at 16:30 and 18:30. The return ticket costs 45 GEL. A private taxi can also be hired for around 50 GEL one way.
Hiking

The hike to Chaukhi Pass from Juta is approximately 4 km and takes about 1.5 hours. The trail is well-marked and relatively easy to cover. Follow the signs for Zeta Camping and climb the initially steep trail up into Juta Valley. The ground flattens out at Zeta Camping then gently rises towards Fifth Season. From Fifth Season, the trail heads up Juta Valley straight towards the Chaukhi Massif.
