Walking
From the center of Mtskheta, head towards the Mtkvari River. You will want to walk towards the bridge that crosses the river. Once you reach the bridge, cross it and continue straight ahead. After crossing, you will find yourself on the main road leading to Tbilisi. Continue walking straight, following the signs for Tbilisi. This will lead you to the Old Tbilisi area, where Vakhtang Gorgasali Square is located. It is a well-known square in Tbilisi, so you can ask locals for directions if needed.
Bus
From Mtskheta, walk to the bus station located near the main square. Look for the minibus labeled 'Tbilisi' (often denoted by a sign in the front window). The fare is very affordable, usually around 1 Lari. Once you board, the ride to Tbilisi will take about 20-30 minutes. Get off at the 'Tbilisi Old Town' stop, which is near the entrance of Old Tbilisi. From there, you can easily walk to Vakhtang Gorgasali Square by following the signs or asking locals for directions.
