Walking
From Bismarckplatz, a central transportation hub in Heidelberg, walk east along Hauptstrasse (the main street) towards the Old Bridge. The Stadttor is located at the eastern end of Hauptstrasse, right before you cross the Old Bridge. The walk is approximately 10-15 minutes and is mostly flat. No special transport or tolls are required.
Public Transport
Take bus lines 32, 33, or 35 to the 'Alte Brücke' stop. From there, the Stadttor is a very short walk. Single tickets cost approximately €3.40. Alternatively, from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main station), take tram 24 to the 'Bismarckplatz' stop and follow the walking directions. A single ticket from the main station to Bismarckplatz costs €3.40.
Taxi/Ride-Share
A taxi or ride-share from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof to the Stadttor will cost approximately €10-€15, depending on traffic. The journey takes around 5-10 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off near the Old Bridge (Alte Brücke).
Driving
Driving directly to the Stadttor is not recommended due to pedestrian zones and limited parking. Park in one of the multi-story car parks in the Old Town (Altstadt) and walk to the gate. Parking fees typically range from €2.50 to €3.50 per hour. P13 under Karlsplatz is a convenient option. Note that the Old Bridge itself has restricted vehicle access during certain hours.
