Walking
If you are starting from the Würzburg Residenz, head east on Residenzplatz towards Ludwigstraße. Continue straight for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Balthasar-Neumann-Straße. Turn left onto Balthasar-Neumann-Straße and walk for about 600 meters until you reach the bridge, Alte Mainbrücke. Cross the bridge and continue straight on the road, which becomes Mainstraße. After about 300 meters, follow the path leading up the hill towards the fortress. Keep following the path uphill, and you'll see Keep (Bergfried) as you approach the fortress area.

From Würzburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take bus line 12 or 14 towards 'Heidingsfeld' or 'Versbach'. Get off at the 'Festung' stop, which is the nearest stop to the fortress.
