Getting There

Bus
Start from Chania city center. Head to the central bus station (Ktel Chania) located on Kidonias Street. Purchase a ticket for the bus to Omalos. Buses to Omalos typically run every hour, but it's best to check the schedule in advance. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Omalos, you will be near the starting point for the hike to Gigilos Peak.

Hiking
From the Omalos bus stop, head towards the Omalos Plateau. Look for signs directing you to the Samaria Gorge. Follow the path that leads towards the gorge, but pay attention for signs that indicate the trail to Gigilos Peak. The trail begins at the entrance of the gorge and is marked with yellow and red paint. The hike to Gigilos Peak is challenging and will take around 2 to 3 hours. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks, and wear appropriate hiking gear.

Return
To return to Chania, retrace your steps back to Omalos. Once back at the Omalos bus stop, wait for the next bus heading back to Chania. Be sure to check the bus timetable in advance, as the frequency may vary depending on the time of year.
