Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the city of Kavala, which is approximately 40 km away from Delta Nestos National Park. From Kavala, take the E90 highway towards Xanthi. After about 25 km, take the exit towards the village of Porto Lagos, which is well-marked. Continue straight on the road, following signs for Porto Lagos. Once you reach the village, you will find parking areas near the park entrance. Be aware that parking might incur a small fee, typically around 2-5 euros.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can catch a bus from Kavala to Porto Lagos. Buses run regularly throughout the day and tickets cost approximately 3-5 euros. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you reach Porto Lagos, you may need to walk a short distance to the park entrance, so wear comfortable shoes. Ensure to check the local bus schedule ahead of time as services might be limited on weekends.

• Taxi

  Alternatively, you can hire a taxi from Kavala to Delta Nestos National Park. This is a more expensive option, with fares typically ranging from 50 to 70 euros depending on the time of day and the taxi company. This option is convenient if you are traveling with a group or have luggage. The taxi will drop you off directly at the park entrance.

• Walking

  Once you are inside Porto Lagos, walking is a great way to explore the immediate area before heading into the park. The park entrance is within walking distance from the village center. Ensure to carry water and snacks if you plan to hike within the park, as facilities may be limited.
