The Monastery of Agios Panteleimonas, located on the island of Thasos, is a remarkable destination for those seeking historical significance and serene beauty. Established in the 18th century, the monastery is dedicated to Saint Panteleimon, a revered figure in Orthodox Christianity. According to local legend, the initial construction site was repeatedly destroyed, and tools mysteriously vanished until workers followed footprints to a natural spring, where they finally built the monastery. Inside the monastery, a cave is said to have been visited by Saint Panteleimon. The cave is known for its cold temperature, even in the summer, and features stalactites and stalagmites that have formed a natural trough from which holy water flows, believed to have miraculous properties. The monastery celebrates its feast day on July 27th.
