Levera Beach: Grenada's Untamed Coastal Paradise

Levera Beach, situated within Levera National Park on the northern coast of Grenada, is a captivating destination renowned for its natural beauty and serene atmosphere. This expansive beach boasts a wide stretch of golden sand, clear turquoise waters, and stunning views of the Grenadine Islands dotting the horizon. Just offshore, the high, pointed Sugar Loaf Island adds to the picturesque scenery. Levera Beach is a significant nesting site for leatherback sea turtles, particularly between April and July. During this period, the beach is sometimes closed in the evenings to protect these magnificent creatures, but authorized tours offer a chance to witness this natural spectacle. The surrounding Levera National Park encompasses diverse habitats, including woodland, mangrove wetlands, and a brackish pond, making it a prime location for birdwatching and wildlife observation. Over 85 bird species have been documented in the area. While swimming is possible, visitors should exercise caution due to strong waves and currents. The beach is ideal for secluded walks, sunbathing, and enjoying the panoramic views. The park also features a mangrove swamp with a roped walkway and observation tower, providing enhanced visibility for birding. Parking is available near the entrance, and access to the beach is free.
