Discover more about Sella Bay Overlook

Sella Bay Overlook is a captivating observation deck on Guam's southern coast, offering visitors breathtaking views of Sella Bay, the coastline, and the rugged interior. The overlook is located in Humåtak, a village with a rich history. From this vantage point, the turquoise waters of the bay meet the lush green hills, creating a picturesque scene perfect for photography and peaceful reflection. Historically, the area was known as Sidya, a Chamoru village that sided with the Spanish during the Spanish-Chamoru Wars in the 17th century. Sidya was notable as one of the few villages where the Spanish recognized the power of a female leader, a Maga'håga. After the wars, the Chamoru people were relocated to settlements where the Spanish could monitor them more easily. In the 18th century, a coastal highway was built connecting Hagåtña with Humåtak, featuring a Spanish Bridge at Sella Bay. Today, the area serves as a historical site and natural preserve, with the Spanish Bridge and remnants of the colonial settlement still accessible. The overlook is also a starting point for hiking trails, including the path to Cetti Bay, offering a blend of historical exploration and natural beauty.
