Asan Bay Overlook Travel Guide

Asan Bay Overlook, completed in 1994, stands as a poignant memorial to the lives lost and the atrocities endured during World War II on Guam. The overlook provides a sweeping vista of the seaside villages of Asan and Piti, offering an aerial perspective of the beaches where U.S. Marines landed during the Battle of Guam.The site features landscaped walkways that invite quiet contemplation, leading to a viewing platform adorned with historical photos. Bronze sculptures vividly depict the events that unfolded on Guam during the Japanese occupation from 1941 to 1944 and the subsequent Battle of Guam in 1944. The Memorial Wall lists the names of 1,880 U.S. servicemen who died on Guam, along with 1,170 Guam residents who perished and 14,721 who suffered atrocities during the war.Visitors can reflect on the sacrifices made while observing the terrain that U.S. Marines scaled to reclaim the high ground during the Battle of Guam. The overlook offers a serene space for remembrance, honoring the fallen and providing a place to contemplate the battlefields below. The site is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering free parking and paved walkways.
