Getting there

Walking

San Pedro is easily navigable on foot. From the main dock, most hotels, restaurants, and language schools are within a 10-15 minute walk. Follow the main road uphill from the dock, and you'll find yourself in the heart of town. Be aware that some streets are steep and cobblestoned, so wear comfortable shoes.

Public Transport

Tuk-tuks are the primary mode of public transport within San Pedro. They can be flagged down on most streets. A typical ride within town costs Q5 per person. For longer distances, such as to the outskirts of town or nearby villages like San Juan, negotiate the fare in advance; expect to pay around Q15.

Water Taxi (Lancha)

To reach San Pedro from other towns on Lake Atitlán, such as Panajachel or San Marcos, take a lancha (water taxi). The main dock in San Pedro is the primary arrival and departure point. Lanchas run frequently throughout the day, but the schedule varies depending on the destination. A typical fare from Panajachel to San Pedro is around Q25-Q35. Make sure to confirm the schedule for your return trip, as lanchas stop running relatively early in the evening.
