Getting There

  • Walking

    From the San Juan La Laguna docks, walk towards the town center. Follow signs for Mirador Kaqasiiwaan, the starting point for the Indian Nose hike. The walk to the entrance takes approximately 25 minutes. From there, the hike to the summit is about 2.75 km (1.7 mi) and takes 1.5-2 hours. Consider hiring a local guide in town for assistance and cultural insights. Entrance fee to use the stairs is 30 GTQ.

  • Tuk-tuk

    From the San Juan La Laguna docks, tuk-tuks are available to take you to the Mirador Kaqasiiwaan entrance. Negotiate the fare beforehand, which should cost around 10 GTQ per person. From the Mirador, the hike to the summit is about 2.75 km (1.7 mi) and takes 1.5-2 hours. Tuk-tuks charge per person instead of for the whole tuk-tuk.

  • Public Transport

    From Panajachel, take a public boat (lancha) to San Juan La Laguna. Boats depart frequently from the main dock. The boat ride takes approximately 20-40 minutes and costs 25 GTQ per person. Upon arrival in San Juan, you can either walk to the Mirador Kaqasiiwaan entrance (approximately 25 minutes) or take a tuk-tuk for around 10 GTQ per person.
