Getting There

• Walking

  Start from the center of Grindavik, specifically at the main square by the old harbor. Head south on Hafnargata street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Suðurgata. Turn right onto Suðurgata and follow it for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see signs pointing towards the Blue Lagoon. Keep walking and you will pass some scenic views of the surrounding lava fields. After about 20 minutes of walking, you will arrive at the entrance to the Blue Lagoon, which is located along the Path into the Blue Lagoon. The path is well-marked and you will see the iconic structure of the lagoon ahead.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, you can start from the Grindavik town center. Head south on Hafnargata street, and then turn right onto Suðurgata. Follow Suðurgata for about 1.5 kilometers. The bike ride should take approximately 10 minutes. Look out for the signs indicating the direction to the Blue Lagoon as you approach. The path into the Blue Lagoon is well-marked and you will enjoy a scenic ride through the beautiful Icelandic landscape.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a faster option, you can easily take a taxi from anywhere in Grindavik. Simply ask the driver to take you to the Blue Lagoon, specifically to the Path into the Blue Lagoon. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes depending on your starting point and will cost approximately 2,500 to 3,500 ISK. Be sure to confirm the fare before you start your journey.

• Public Transport

  Currently, there is no direct public bus service from Grindavik to the Blue Lagoon. However, you can take a bus to the nearest major hub, which is in Reykjanesbær, and then transfer to a bus that goes to the Blue Lagoon. The entire journey may take longer, so it's recommended to check the local bus schedules in advance. Ask locals for directions to the nearest bus stop if you're unsure.
