If you're traveling by car from Reykjavik, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading southeast. After approximately 20 km, take the exit toward Route 42. Follow Route 42 for about 10 km until you reach Route 1 again. Turn left onto Route 1 and continue for about 15 km. Look for the sign for Þríhnúkagígur Volcano, which will direct you onto a gravel road. Follow this road for about 3 km until you reach the parking area at the base of the volcano.

From Reykjavik, you can take the bus to Þingvellir National Park. From there, you will need to arrange a shuttle or tour service that specifically goes to Þríhnúkagígur Volcano. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour and there may be additional costs for the shuttle or tour service, which can range from ISK 8,000 to ISK 12,000 depending on the provider. Make sure to check the schedules in advance as they may vary.
