Car
From Sawtooth National Recreation Area, head south on ID-75 S. Continue for approximately 50 miles until you reach the junction with US-20 E. Take the exit toward US-20 E. Follow US-20 E for about 38 miles. Look for the signs directing you to Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve. Turn left onto ID-26 E and continue for about 10 miles until you arrive at the monument entrance. Be aware that there may be a park entrance fee, typically around $25 per vehicle.

Public Transportation + Car Rental
If traveling by public transportation, take a bus from Sawtooth to the nearest town with car rental services, such as Arco, Idaho. From Sawtooth, use a local bus service or shuttle to reach Arco (you may need to check local schedules). Once in Arco, rent a car and drive south on US-93 S. Merge onto US-20 E and follow it for about 28 miles. Turn left onto ID-26 E and continue for about 10 miles until you reach the entrance of Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve. Note that car rental rates may vary and check for availability ahead of your trip.
