If you're traveling by car, start from downtown Springfield, Illinois. Head east on E Washington St toward S 2nd St. Continue onto IL-4 N/N 2nd St. Follow IL-4 N for about 10 miles until you reach the intersection with IL-72 E. Turn right onto IL-72 E and continue for approximately 5 miles, then turn left onto IL-36 E. After about 15 miles, take the exit toward IL-54 N. Continue on IL-54 N for about 4 miles, and then turn left onto N 1st St. The Original Geographic Center of Illinois will be located in Illiopolis Township, at the coordinates 39.8415562, -89.2543603.
