From Giant City State Park, head south on Giant City Road (County Road 6) for about 5 miles. Turn left onto IL-145 S and continue for approximately 12 miles. You will reach the town of Herod, IL. Follow the signs for Garden of the Gods, which is located about 2 miles west of Herod. The entrance to the Garden of the Gods Recreation Area will be on your right.

While public transportation options directly to Garden of the Gods are limited, you can take a bus service from Carbondale, IL to Herod, IL. Once in Herod, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to cover the remaining 2 miles to the Garden of the Gods Recreation Area.
