If you are driving, start from the main entrance of Illinois Beach State Park located on North Sheridan Road, Waukegan, IL 60087. Head north on Sheridan Road (IL-42) for approximately 1.5 miles. You will see signs for Illinois Beach Nature Preserve. Look for the designated parking area on your left. There is no entrance fee for the preserve, but parking may be limited during busy hours.

Public Transportation
To reach Illinois Beach Nature Preserve by public transport, take the Metra Union Pacific North Line train from downtown Chicago to the Waukegan station. From the Waukegan station, you can take the #572 Pace bus heading towards North Chicago. Get off at the stop closest to North Sheridan Road and walk north for about 0.5 miles. Follow the signs to the preserve. Be aware that bus schedules may vary, so check the Pace website for the latest information on routes and timings.
