Car
If you are driving to Lake Renwick Heron Rookery Nature Preserve, start by getting onto I-55 S from your location in Prairie State. Continue on I-55 S for approximately 15 miles. Take exit 263 for IL-126 toward Plainfield. Merge onto IL-126 E and continue for about 5 miles. Turn right onto Van Dyke Rd and follow it for about 2 miles until you reach W Renwick Rd. Turn left onto W Renwick Rd, and the preserve will be on your right at 23202 W Renwick Rd, Plainfield, IL 60544. There is no entrance fee to access the preserve.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, begin at the nearest Metra train station in Prairie State. Board the Metra Heritage Corridor Line towards Union Station. Get off at the Joliet station. From Joliet, take the Pace bus #830 towards Plainfield. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the stop closest to W Renwick Rd. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk (0.7 miles) to the preserve. Please check the Pace website for the latest schedule and fare information, as bus fares may vary.
