From the Moline Transit Center, head south on 5th Ave, then turn left onto 8th St. Continue walking east for approximately 0.6 miles. The Deere-Wiman House will be on your left. There is no charge for visiting the Deere-Wiman House.

Step back in time at the Deere-Wiman House, a beautifully preserved Victorian mansion in Moline, Illinois. Built in 1872 by Charles Deere, son of the famous John Deere, the house originally named “Overlook” due to its hilltop location, served as a residence for four generations of the Deere family. The house showcases the architectural styles and innovations of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Although originally built in the Victorian architectural style, the house underwent renovations after a fire in 1899, which changed the roofline. Inside, visitors can admire original furnishings, including a Kimball pipe organ and an early elevator. Today, the Deere-Wiman House is managed by the William Butterworth Foundation and serves as a site for educational and cultural events. Guided tours offer an authentic glimpse into Victorian family life and the history of the Deere family and Deere & Company. The Moline City Council recognized the Deere-Wiman House as a local historic landmark on May 7, 2024.
