    Kishwaukee Gorge North Forest Preserve is located at 4643 Blackhawk Rd, Rockford, IL 61109. From Rockford, take Blackhawk Road southeast. The preserve will be on your right. Parking is available in a small lot near the trailhead. Be aware that in the fall, the access road may be closed, requiring parking at the entrance on Blackhawk Road. Parking is free.

    From nearby Blackhawk Road, enter the preserve and follow the mowed grass trail towards the wooded area. The path to the left leads closer to the gorge and water. The trail becomes a dirt path as it enters the forest, leading to a staircase that descends into the gorge.
