The gateway served as the egress from Bhadra Fort, leading to a large enclosure that was once the outer courtyard of the palace, known as Maidan Shah.The structure consists of three grand archways. The central opening is 17 feet wide, while the side arches measure 13 feet each. The arches are adorned with highly decorated buttresses on the piers between them, and the height of the arches reaches 25 feet. The intricate carvings and mesh work on the semi-circular windows showcase the fine Islamic architectural style. The central window features a depiction of the tree of life, with five palm trees covered in snakes, which also serves as the symbol of the Gujarat Government.Historically, Teen Darwaza was a place where royal announcements were made and troops were mustered for martial enterprises.
