Getting there

Taxi

From New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra Airport, hire a taxi to Kalimpong. The journey from NJP to Kalimpong is approximately 70 km and takes about 2-3 hours. From Bagdogra, the distance is around 90 km. Taxi fares range from ₹2,500 to ₹3,500. Upon reaching Kalimpong, arrange for a pickup service with your homestay in Ramdhura, which is about 15 km from Kalimpong and takes approximately 30 minutes. This final leg may cost around ₹800-₹1,200 depending on the vehicle and your negotiation skills.

Public Transport

From Darjeeling, take a shared jeep to Kalimpong from Chowk Bazaar. The fare is approximately ₹300 per person, and the jeeps operate between 8 am and 2 pm. From Kalimpong, it is best to arrange a car or taxi via your homestay in Ramdhura, as public transport options are limited. This final 15km stretch will cost approximately ₹800-₹1,200.

Visitors can enjoy short treks, bird watching, and photography amidst the stunning natural beauty.Attractions in and around Ramdhura include the British-built Jalsa Bungalow, a relic from 1930, the Mahadev Dham temple, and Hanuman Tok viewpoint, which offers splendid views of the valleys and mountains. Day trips can be arranged to nearby destinations such as Delo Nature Park, Icchey Gaon, Sillery Gaon, and others. The best time to visit Ramdhura is between March and June and October to December when the weather is pleasant and the skies are clear, providing unobstructed views of the Himalayas.
