This well-manicured park, located a short walk from the Chowrasta Mall, boasts a rich history and a tranquil ambiance.Originally, during the British Raj, the park was known as 'The Shrubbery' and served as the private courtyard of Sir Thomas Tartan's bungalow. It was a popular meeting spot for British women residing in Darjeeling. After being devastated by an earthquake in 1934, the area was redeveloped and opened to the public.Today, Shrubbery Nightingale Park features beautifully maintained lawns, pebbled walkways, and diverse flora. Visitors can relax on shaded benches while taking in the scenic views. A giant statue of Lord Shiva with an associated temple stands at one end of the park, adding a spiritual element to the tranquil setting. During the tourist season, cultural programs showcasing Nepali dances are held on an open circular stage in the evenings. A musical fountain and occasional waterfalls further enhance the park's charm.
